Coach Marshall and I were extremely pleased with the game on
Saturday. What a great second half to come back from 20 – 0 to score 2
touchdowns (really 3, but one was called back). We both thought the boys really
battled hard to make it an exciting game. We all saw some first half jitters,
especially those players who this is their first season. It was a solid
performance all around. That being said, there is lots of room for improvement,
and we’ll be working hard to get better at practices this week.
Practices this week will continue to be Tuesday and Thursday
at 6:30 – 8:30. The following week, starting with Sept 11, we’ll practising
Tuesday and Thursday but from 4:00 –
5:30. We realize that some players are coming from out of town, but with the
days getting shorter and cooler, we really have no choice. Those of you that are coming from out of
town, please contact us so we know when we can expect your son to arrive,
John and I both realized just how challenging it is to run a
football bench. There is an incredible amount of activity going on, with
players shuttling in and out constantly depending on the situation. We are
doing our best to ensure that all players get a fairly even share of playing
time. We realize that we may not have done a very good job at that this
weekend. Having said that , we really could use some help. We would like to
find someone that could run the kickoffs and kickoff returns. It basically is
making sure we have 9 players on the field and finding a sub when a player gets
hurt or is too tired. We have done most of the set up with assigning players
roles, we just need someone to make sure it happens. This allows us to take a
moment to get our offense or defense together , and make the necessary
substitutions to ensure that everyone is
getting on the field. It would mean that you would need a Respect in
Sport number. This is a short online course. Sort of a do’s and don’ts for
coaches. Please let either of us know if you can help out at all. Neither of us played any football, so really
anyone can help us out!
It would also be real nice if we could find someone to take
some video of game situations. We can learn a lot from watching footage. If you
have a good video camera with a good zoom feature, please let us know.
My daughter , (a 10 year old aspiring photographer) took a bunch of pictures Saturday. Here is a
link to them if you want to see them.
Keep in mind she took a few more pics of her brother and
people that she knows. I will ask her to take a few more at some other games
too. Hopefully she can get a good action shot of every player. We will get a
full team photo later in the season as well.
As always, please let us know if you have any concerns or
questions.
