What a great day of football! While we did not get the result we wanted, the boys battled hard through some adversity and bad case of fumbleitis, and should be proud of their efforts. The smiles on a lot of faces at the end of the day are a true measure of the day, rather than the scoreboard.
Thanks to all the parents that helped out with whatever was needed, both set up , or cleanup. Special thanks to Matt on the microphone who made the day more enjoyable for all. Also special thanks to the fellas in the striped uniform who worked all 3 games, and made it possible for us to enjoy the day.If you see them around, be sure to thank them.
Practise next week are cancelled. There is a home game vs Melville this WEDNESDAY at 4:00. I am sending Mr. Anderson a list of names with a cc to MMS parents, asking them to be let out at 3:15 so they can make there way to the DRCSS in time for kickoff. I will be asking for DRCSS players to be let out 5 min early to get ready. If someone wants to be at the field at 3:30 to help put out yardage markers etc that would be great. We will need some people to run the yardage sticks as well.
Here are some pictures from the day. Oct 5 games in Dauphin
Miss Sochan also took some great pictures, they are posted to http://clippersfootball.blogspot.ca/

Practise #2 - Wednesday Aug 14
Good work last night everybody, the equipment distribution
went very well, nice and smooth with not too many issues.
Reminder that next week practices are Monday and TUESDAY
with no practice on Wednesday (get your ticket for the Team Canada vs Team Peru
International Volleyball match at the DRCSS , Wednesday night).
For Monday
-
If you have a mouth guard, form it , and bring
it to practice on Monday
-
If you don’t have one, get one and form it and
bring it to practice on Monday
-
You can get one at practice on Monday, but it
will not be formed to your mouth
-
If we get to tackling on Monday, players must
have a mouth guard to participate.
-
If you have not yet got your equipment, please
see Coach Ricketts on Monday, he will get you set up with gear.
Potential Quarter backs and running backs , please have a look at some of the
material on our website at http://bantamclippers.wikispaces.com/home
. In particular the instructional YouTube videos, QB’s pay close attention to
the footwork being demonstrated.
Also, players please fill in the following. We are looking
at where people are likely to play, so we need a little background info.

2013 Season welcome
Welcome to the Bantam Clippers for 2013 - this looks to be a promising season, with well over 20 players interested in playing.
All news emails will be posted here, for reference, along with pictures , and videos etc. Documents such as schedules, rosters (so parents can find their kid and other kids!) are available at http://bantamclippers.wikispaces.com/home.
Our coaches for the season are
Cam Bennet
John Marshall
Ron Ricketts
Jason Taffinder
Mike Jestin
Please feel free to talk kto any of us, we are here to keep the kids safe, teach them some football, and have a lot of fun. At the end of the season, our win - loss record means much less than the answer to the questions "Did they learn something?" and "Did they have fun?"

It's been quite a ride for the 2012 Bantam Clippers. I thoroughly enjoyed myself this entire season. I had a great time working with all the kids. Good luck to those moving on to he high school team next year. I am looking forward to working with the new group again next season.

Final game
What a great final league game for the team. Everyone contributed and we came away with one more win. Congratulations to all the players for a great season. All the coaching staff had a great time, and it was was amazing to see how the team really came together as a group. So much improvement from early in the year. Already thinking about next year! Here is the team picture taken in Brandon.

win over Winkler
Another great day for Dauphin football. Everybody pitched in again to contribute towards the win. Final score 37 - 0. Here are some pictures from today.
Reminder that we have practice TUESDAY, then we play an exhibition against Swan River Wednesday at 4:00. I will ask principals from DRCSS and MMS to excuse players at 3:15 so we can get changed and get out on the field for 4:00. NO practise on Thursday.
Also reminder that we go to Winkler next Sunday , kick off at 1:00. Please be there by 12:00 , 12: 15 at the latest. I will get some directions to the field and send them out later in the week. I do know a teacher at the high school there, so I am hoping we can find a place to change, but have your player prepared to change in a vehicle.

Glenboro
Once again a great second half for the team. We were very
happy with how the guys responded to some injury trouble, with some having to
step up and play unfamiliar positions . Some players had to play offense and
defense as well.
Next action is SATURDAY Sept 15th in Brandon , at Neelin
High School.
Map here http://goo.gl/maps/YT7gP
Game time is 3:00
again, so please be sure you leave early enough to arrive by 2:00. Also, please
ensure that your player has ALL their equipment ( jersey, mouthguard , etc)
prior to leaving Dauphin. We had some difficulty with that, and it does take
away time prior to the game to deal with that.
Practises this week are Tuesday and Thursday, at 4:00 (
note change in time). Grade 9 players can meet me in the DRCSS gym between 8:30
and 8:50. We have an area to store gear there. Grade 8 players are asked to get
their gear to Coach Marshall or myself Sunday night or Monday night, and we
will bring to the practise. Or make arrangements to get their gear to the
school for Tuesday.
Great game , thanks for your support.
I have a light blue hoodie and an asthma inhaler as well that were found in Glenboro and last week practices.

Next week, practices move to Tuesdays and Thursdays at 4:00
No videos tonight, with the showers
Tuesday, September 4, 2012
Good practise tonight, I think we made some progress. I compiled all the video into 1 file, here it is. I encourage players to have a look, it;s just over 4 miuntes long, so it won't take too long.
Reminder that our game this Sunday is in Glenboro, at 3:00. Please be there at 2:00 , 2:15 at the latest.

Coach Marshall and I were extremely pleased with the game on
Saturday. What a great second half to come back from 20 – 0 to score 2
touchdowns (really 3, but one was called back). We both thought the boys really
battled hard to make it an exciting game. We all saw some first half jitters,
especially those players who this is their first season. It was a solid
performance all around. That being said, there is lots of room for improvement,
and we’ll be working hard to get better at practices this week.
Practices this week will continue to be Tuesday and Thursday
at 6:30 – 8:30. The following week, starting with Sept 11, we’ll practising
Tuesday and Thursday but from 4:00 –
5:30. We realize that some players are coming from out of town, but with the
days getting shorter and cooler, we really have no choice. Those of you that are coming from out of
town, please contact us so we know when we can expect your son to arrive,
John and I both realized just how challenging it is to run a
football bench. There is an incredible amount of activity going on, with
players shuttling in and out constantly depending on the situation. We are
doing our best to ensure that all players get a fairly even share of playing
time. We realize that we may not have done a very good job at that this
weekend. Having said that , we really could use some help. We would like to
find someone that could run the kickoffs and kickoff returns. It basically is
making sure we have 9 players on the field and finding a sub when a player gets
hurt or is too tired. We have done most of the set up with assigning players
roles, we just need someone to make sure it happens. This allows us to take a
moment to get our offense or defense together , and make the necessary
substitutions to ensure that everyone is
getting on the field. It would mean that you would need a Respect in
Sport number. This is a short online course. Sort of a do’s and don’ts for
coaches. Please let either of us know if you can help out at all. Neither of us played any football, so really
anyone can help us out!
It would also be real nice if we could find someone to take
some video of game situations. We can learn a lot from watching footage. If you
have a good video camera with a good zoom feature, please let us know.
My daughter , (a 10 year old aspiring photographer) took a bunch of pictures Saturday. Here is a
link to them if you want to see them.
Keep in mind she took a few more pics of her brother and
people that she knows. I will ask her to take a few more at some other games
too. Hopefully she can get a good action shot of every player. We will get a
full team photo later in the season as well.
As always, please let us know if you have any concerns or
questions.

I and Wishbone plays
We ran some new wishbone plays and practised some I plays last Thursday. I recorded 8 of these plays and have had a look at them to see what we were doing right and what needs some work. These are posted to youtube. The first one is embedded below, and the rest are part of a playlist
Players, especially those on offence should have a look to see if they can see any mistake in these plays. We will be working hard on correcting them on Tuesday and Thursday.

Finally, some offense
Another outstanding practise last night. We ran through a series of Power I plays, and the offence seemed quite knowledgeable about what to do. The defense looked good too with a number of good tackles and a few interceptions.
Wishbone plays have be posted to the wiki at http://bantamclippers.wikispaces.com/, please have a look so you have some idea of what we will run on Thursday night and next week. We will also have a look at special teams positions.
As mentioned last night, each player will be assigned a primary position and a secondary position. One will be on offense and the other on defense. The secondary position means you are the backup for that spot in case of injury or the primary player cannot make a game or practise. Coach Marshall and I sat down to compile this list, and we feel that the position we have placed players in, is the best spot for them to succeed personally, and to contribute to the team overall.
We will be letting players know of these spots Thursday, but most will have been placed in their primary spot Tuesday night.
One small change to the schedule; Glenboro was unable to get refs for the Saturday Sept. 8th game, so it has been moved to Sunday the 9th , still at 3:00 in Glenboro, at the high school. We have been assured that change rooms will be provided that day, please have your player there by 2:00, so we can begin warm-ups and assign positions for that day by 2:30.
Feel free to comment below or send either of us an email
